Allium Firmament

Dark amethyst stars are produced in dense clusters, forming eye-catching spheres of purple on Allium ‘Firmament’.
A cross between Allium Atropurpureum and Christophii, this striking cultivar boasts the best qualities of both varieties, with tall, strong stems and densely packed, richly coloured flowers.
A brilliant choice for sunny summer borders and for cutting and arranging. Allium ‘Firmament’ looks fabulous in a prairie planting scheme, studding hazy drifts of perennial grasses with pops of purple.
Plant the bulbs in clusters or ribbons for a natural look and for the best impact. Well-drained soil and full sun are essential for this excellent Allium to thrive.

Plant in rich, well-drained soil.
The larger bulbs should be planted 10cm (4”) deep and the smaller ones 5cm (2”) deep; they may be left undisturbed for many years.

Giant

Also known as ‘wand flowers’, Ixia ‘Giant’ brings a magical touch with clusters of twinkling, starry, ivory-white flowers embellished with purple-maroon hearts. As its name suggests, this variety bears particularly sizeable blooms on tall stems.
Native to South Africa, these tender corms are gratifying and easy to grow – simply offer protection from frost and plant on free-draining soil in plenty of sunshine.
Ixia ‘Giant’ is ideal for patio planters, where the pretty blooms can be admired up close and moved to a sheltered location over winter. Renowned for their superiority as cut flowers, Ixia have an excellent vase life for delightful floral arrangements.
