Mid Season Tulip Heartbreaker

Enchanting Martagon lily ‘Sunny Morning’ produces bountiful stems of downturned orange-yellow blooms, splashed with burgundy-red spots and markings.

The small, delicate looking flowers of the martagon lilium Sunny Morning are surprisingly tough, as these plants originate from mountainous meadow areas of the Swiss Alps – they therefore thrive in a cooler climate and the bulbs withstand cold winters.  Grow Martagon lilies in humus-rich, well-drained soil in a position in part shade and they will thrive and naturalise readily in the garden.

Plant extra bulbs to ensure you have enough to spare for cutting, as the stems make wonderful, unusual cut flowers.

Exquisite Iris ‘Bucharica’ bears silky feathered blooms, consisting of upright ivory standards and golden-yellow falls, sometimes streaked in grey.

Part of the Juno group, this spectacular Iris Bucharica produces vigorous plants and flowers which are larger and later than most dwarf iris species, blooming in April on stems up to 35cm tall. The deep green lanceolate leaves are also broader than Iris reticulata and are produced up the stems.

Plant the bulbs in a position in full sun, into well-drained, moisture-retentive soil. Perfect for pots, rockeries, alpine gardens and sunny borders - plant in groups for impact.

The elegant Tazetta Narcissi ‘Silver Chimes’ rings delicate, bell-like blooms to welcome the warmth of mid-spring as the rest of the garden begins to wake. This superb variety carries up to 7 exquisitely formed, nodding flowers on each stem. Glistening white petals surround a creamy lemon cup, imparting an irresistibly sweet floral scent.
