Rhodohypoxis Baurii Mars

South African native Rhodohypoxis thrive in a sunny, well-drained spot such as an alpine border or rockery. They can also be grown successfully in containers.

Plant the rhizomes 5 cm deep, spaced 10 cm apart in neutral to acid soil.  Water sparingly until in active growth. Allow plants to dry out completely when flowering has finished, and the bulbs will lie dormant until the following spring.

Protect bulbs from waterlogging and rotting during the winter months by bringing those grown in pots into a greenhouse or potting shed.  In well-drained soil, plants should be fine left in the ground.
