Paeonies Sarah Bernhardt

Named after the much-admired French actress of the late 19th century who was often referred to as ‘The Divine Sarah’, Paeonia ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ has an equally commanding presence, beauty, and grace. As famed as its namesake, this darling peony remains immensely popular.
Multi-layered petticoats of rose-pink petals are rouged at the centre, accompanied by a delicate, honeyed scent. The beguiling fragrance of this variety will lure bees and butterflies to your garden, hence being included in the RHS ‘Plants for Pollinators’ scheme.
Much beloved as a cut flower, the soft pastel hues of Paeonies ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ make a dreamy addition to bouquet and arrangements.
Care Guide
Plant herbaceous Peonies in autumn or spring a sunny, well-drained location. Do not plant too deeply, the eyes should sit no more than 1.5 cm below soil level once the ground has settled and should be spaced 60-90 cm apart in the soil, depending on variety.
Fertile soil which is moist and free draining is best for Peonies. Dig plenty of organic matter such as well-rotted manure into a trench or hole prior to planting bare roots. Water newly planted Peonies in well but avoid overwatering thereafter. Plants are long-lived and will naturally establish themselves in time, requiring very little care.
Cut stems and foliage back in late autumn.

The vibrant pink blooms of this Large Flowered Double 'Pink' Begonia are perfect for adding a splash of colour to summer containers. With huge, rippled flowers which shine against deep green, serrated foliage - a wonderful contrast for the soft, rose-like blooms.
Large Flowered 'Pink' Begonias blooms can reach up to 15 cm in diameter, and flower for months on end, from May until at least September.
Begonias thrive best in light soil which is rich in leaf-mould, in a position in part shade where the layered flowers shimmer as they catch the light. Start in March or April, preferably in a cold frame or greenhouse.
Fill pots, hanging baskets, window-boxes, and unusual vintage containers with large flowering begonias for a show-stopping display. They can reach a flowering height of between 25-30 cm.
