Two-tone, Cactus Dahlia ‘Tahiti Sunrise’ infuses a cocktail of warm colour into the garden when in summer bloom. The striking, spiked flowers appear as a sunburst of bi-coloured petals in radiant yellow and magenta-pink.
This dazzling cactus dahlia 'Tahiti Sunrise' plant is compact in form growing to 60 cm, flowering profusely over a long season, studding garden borders and summery pots with punchy tones. Keep deadheading and picking the flowers for a continuous stream of blooms, until surprisingly late in autumn.
de Jager's cactus dahlias top size, top quailty tubers are supplied polythene bags, in which they may be safely kept until planting time, stored in a cool place.
To grow Dahlias, select a sunny spot with well-drained soil, and dig a 30 cm deep hole. Plant the tuber 10 cm below the soil surface, spacing multiple tubers 45 cm apart, or 90 cm for taller varieties. Water consistently, maintaining moist but not saturated soil and protect new shoots from slug damage with eco-friendly methods. Feed plants during the blooming period with liquid plant food. Provide support for stems which will reach 60-90 cm tall depending on variety. Enjoy spectacular blooms from late summer until first frosts. Cut or deadhead the flowers regularly for a continually flourishing display. Once blooming has finished, cut back foliage before lifting, drying and storing the tubers in peat-free substitute, in a frost-free place until the following spring.
