Characterised by rich, amber-orange flowers, Zantedeschia ‘Captain Odeon’ resemble the warm glow of a flaming torch. Illuminating your garden with vibrant, hot colour, these eye-catching blooms add tropical flair to patio planters, conservatories and greenhouse displays.
Glossy, verdant leaves create a lush backdrop, with the spade-shaped foliage flecked with white. Native to marshy areas of South Africa, Zantedeschia ‘Captain Odeon’ relish moist, rich soils, and are ideal for heavier soils where other bulbs may struggle. This tender variety will need some protection from frost and can be lifted and overwintered indoors. The cheerful, radiant blooms make fantastic cut flowers for bold floral arrangements and bouquets.
Plant rhizomes 8-10 cm deep in a container filled with good quality, free-draining multi-purpose compost. Provide consistent watering, ensuring the soil stays moderately moist to maintain lush growth of your calla lilies.
Once flowers start to appear, feed plants every 3 weeks with high-potash liquid fertiliser.
Zantedeschia Aethiopica is the only fully hardy member of the family which may be grown outdoors all year round
