Care Guide

As members of the Iris family, Ixia thrive in a sunny spot in well-drained soil which is rich in organic matter.   Plant corms 5 cm deep, spaced 8-10 cm apart in the soil.  A mix of compost, leaf mould and sharp sand provides an ideal growing medium for pot grown plants.

Protect from east and northerly winds and ensure soil never becomes waterlogged as this may lead to rotting. Lift the bulbs in autumn, allowing them to dry out for a day or two before storing in a cool, dry place until the following spring.
