The impeccable, pristine blooms of Gladiolus ‘Albus’ have a sophisticated, bridal quality, arrayed in unfussy, chic white petals. These statuesque spires will bring a graceful, vertical silhouette to your herbaceous borders and container displays.

In the Language of Flowers, Gladioli represent faithfulness, integrity, and strength of character – the upright, immaculate pillars of Gladiolus ‘Albus’ seem to embody these virtues. Opening from the base upwards, the pointed buds burst open into glistening, star-shaped flowers.

This variety is more compact than its cousins, reducing the chances of it becoming top-heavy and toppling over. Be sure to snip a few stems as exceptional, long-lasting cut flowers.

Care Guide

For early flowering, hardy Gladiolus, choose a warm and sunny, well-drained location. Plant corms with the pointy side up, 8-10 cm deep and 15 cm apart in the soil.  Provide consistent watering after planting and during dry spells, ensuring soil remains moderately moist.  

Plant corms at intervals, every two weeks from spring until early summer for a staggered display. After flowering, remove spent and withered stalks and foliage and apply a mulch to the soil in late autumn.

    A bashful little bloom, the faces of Helleborus ‘Orientalis White Spotted’ point modestly towards the ground. Gently lift the flowers up to reveal their astonishing, intricate beauty –double, frilled layers of alabaster petals are delicately stippled with burgundy freckles.

    Helleborus ‘Orientalis White Spotted’ clusters of demure blooms are shown to advantage by glossy, serrated, evergreen foliage. The leathery, rabbit resistant leaves make excellent woodland ground cover.

    Blooming from December to March, the flowers are invaluable to early-season pollinators when other nectar sources are scarce, hence the RHS ranks Hellebores highly in their ‘Plants for Pollinators’ scheme.
