These jaw-dropping flowers are borne on impressive spikes, flanked by sword-like foliage. The structural spires of Gladiolus ‘Atom’ will bring a bold vertical accent to your herbaceous borders.
A few of these stems placed in a tall vase makes for a long-lasting, invigorating floral arrangement. Cut once the bottom flower has opened, and the remaining buds will unfurl sequentially indoors. Little wonder that Gladioli are a florist’s favourite!
Care Guide
For early flowering, hardy Gladiolus, choose a warm and sunny, well-drained location. Plant corms with the pointy side up, 8-10 cm deep and 15 cm apart in the soil. Provide consistent watering after planting and during dry spells, ensuring soil remains moderately moist.
Plant corms at intervals, every two weeks from spring until early summer for a staggered display. After flowering, remove spent and withered stalks and foliage and apply a mulch to the soil in late autumn.

A bashful little bloom, the faces of Helleborus ‘Orientalis White Spotted’ point modestly towards the ground. Gently lift the flowers up to reveal their astonishing, intricate beauty –double, frilled layers of alabaster petals are delicately stippled with burgundy freckles.
Helleborus ‘Orientalis White Spotted’ clusters of demure blooms are shown to advantage by glossy, serrated, evergreen foliage. The leathery, rabbit resistant leaves make excellent woodland ground cover.
Blooming from December to March, the flowers are invaluable to early-season pollinators when other nectar sources are scarce, hence the RHS ranks Hellebores highly in their ‘Plants for Pollinators’ scheme.
