Anemone De Caen ‘Sylphide’ flaunts velvety, rose-pink petals with intricate violet veining, encircling a button of indigo-black stamens. Borne atop feathery, fern-like foliage and dancing on stems of 25cm, these dainty blooms are adorable for container displays and the front of your borders.
Flowering in May, anemones provide the perfect bridge between spring bulbs and summer blooms. With a plentiful supply of pollen, Anemone De Caen ‘Sylphide’ will act as a magnet to bees and butterflies.
The fairy-like blooms can also be brought indoors as charming cut flowers – dot them in bud vases around your home for long-lasting arrangements.
To grow Anemones successfully, select a partly shaded area with well-drained, humus-rich soil.
Pre-soak corms overnight in tepid water, planting 5-8 cm deep and 15 cm apart the following day.
Keep soil consistently moist without waterlogging and feed with dilute liquid seaweed every week during flower production.
Graceful stems of open-faced blooms rise to heights of 15-30 cm between March and June. The delicate flowers are wonderful for cutting and arranging.
Can be grown undercover in a greenhouse or polytunnel for earlier flowers and may also be grown in containers or crates.
