Poeticus Narcissi Actaea

Muse of the poets, widely believed to be the variety mentioned by Virgil, Poeticus Narcissi have an inspirational purity of beauty and grace. The historical ‘Actaea’ features a ring of crisp white petals like freshly ironed linen, centring on a striking, crimson-edged golden eye.
Single blooms nod elegantly from slender, curving, swanlike necks. This much-admired old favourite has been granted an RHS Award of Garden Merit for its excellence and dependability. Amongst the best for naturalising in drifts amongst lawns, orchards, dappled shade, and meadows. Equally enchanting in generous pots by the door, to capitalise on the heady fragrance of jasmine and hyacinth.
Care Guide
Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter.
A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring.
Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass.
Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth.
Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
