Tigridia Canariensis
M6792
Lemon-yellow petals with exotic red markings highlight Tigridia 'Canariensis', often known as the ‘peacock flower’. Very few flowers are as beautiful or more picturesquely coloured than tigridia.
Tropical flair transforms borders and containers into radiant focal points. These unique Tigridia 'Canariensis' blooms deliver intricate patterns and bold hues, making this a distinctive and welcome addition to your garden.
Care Guide
Semi-hardy Tigridia should ideally be started off indoors, in a greenhouse in spring. Plant the bulbs in pots of multi-purpose compost with added grit at a depth of 7.5 cm below the soil.
Grow undercover for the entire season, or plant out in late spring into a bed of fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Known as Mexican shell flowers, Tigridia look wonderful in groups, providing a colourful summer show.
Provide consistent watering throughout the growing period, ensuring the soil stays moderately moist. Allow the soil to dry out once flowering has finished, before lifting the bulbs in autumn and storing over winter in a frost-free place.
