Otherwise known as ‘Star of Bethlehem’, Ornithogalum ‘Arabicum’ is crowned by tightly packed clusters of white, star-like flowers, each punctuated by a black, bead-like centre.
The RHS has recognised this variety as part of their ‘Plants for Pollinators’ scheme, and the pollen-packed blooms will bring your garden to life with the gentle buzzing and fluttering of bees and butterflies. Renowned by florists for their exceptionally long vase life and their long, sturdy stems, make the most of your Ornithogalum ‘Arabicum indoors as well as out.
Lift these half-hardy bulbs once the flowers and foliage have faded and place in a sheltered, frost-free location. Re-plant in late spring for an encore performance.
Care Guide
Ornithogalum thrive in warm, sunny spots in the garden, either in the ground or in pots. Plant the bulbs in spring, 5-8 cm deep, spaced 10 cm apart into fertile well-drained soil. Water in after planting and consistently once leaves appear and if the soil appears dry. Do not allow the bulbs to sit in cold, wet soil.
Bulbs planted in borders require lifting and storing over the winter and replanted the following spring.

Originating from the Eastern Himalayas, Arisaema ‘Speciosum’ is a spectacular, exotic plant which looks as though it belongs on another planet – but you can grow it in your garden!
Arisaema are often called the ‘Cobra Lily’ due to the distinctive, hooded, serpentine shape of their inflorescens. Striped by bands of oxblood red interspersed with veins of pale green, the hood of Arisaema ‘Speciosum’ gradually unfurls to reveal a prominent spadix.
Spreading above the unusual flowers, broad, ornamental leaves are held on thick, mottled stems, creating a structural statement with their architectural form. An astonishing focal point for a damp, shady part of your garden.
